imageI recently booked my husband and I in for an allergy and health testing session, although I minimize my intake of wheat, meat, dairy, and refined sugars, I am human and still don’t deprive myself from wine, chocolate and cheese. However I recently noticed, if I ate wheat consecutively, I would develop a slight rash on my leg or arms, which I know is linked to a gluten intolerance; so to give me a peace of mind so I wasn’t hindering my health with little treats, I booked an appointment.

Lo and behold cows milk, cows cheese, wheat, oats, gluten, dust mites, aspartame, and mixed grasses came up, ( phew I can still have wine and sheeps cheese) and all my vitamin levels were normal apart from slightly low in acidolopholis and vitamin A; but I do have Crohns disease so I was very happy, as its much harder for people with digestive disorders to absorb and assimilate essential nutrients. My husband who thought he was super man and had absolutely not intolerances; was wrong.   Being and living with someone for almost 5 years, I obviously noticed he had a dry scalp despite using head and shoulders, and a slight protruding belly after devouring a bacon bap ( think Homer Simpson on a good day ha)! Well he had even more sensitivities than me, on top of the culprits cows milk, wheat and gluten, he also had rose’ wine, beer, amonia, and sulphur ( which is found in most shampoos) hence his constant itchy/dry scalp, and was low in chromium and vitamin E. Being a nutritionist I know the importance of high quality nutrition has on your over all health and wellness, but even foods that are considered healthy you could be intolerant to could be the reason you a cannot seem to shift that weight or get rid of that constant headache.

Here are some symptoms/signs that you could have a sensitivities

– Brain fog, memory loss, migraines or headaches
– Fatigue, lethargy, and tiredness
– Heart burn/ acid reflux
– Breathing problems, shortness of breath, or wheeziness
– Joint and back pain
– Bloating and tummy troubles
– Acne, Itchy skin, spots, dark circles, eczema

If you suffer from any of the symptoms above and are person who takes pride in their health, fitness and eating habits, than an allergy test can be life changing. Bye bye bloat, breathing problems and blotchy skin.. hello optimum health!
